Avoid using the word "I". Being a team player nowadays is important to most companies. The "I" word implies otherwise and simply does not read well.

Salary Expectations and Negotiations

Most companies nowadays are very concerned about "internal equity" issues … rightfully so. They will not take the risk of paying a recent hire more than their peers. Expect to be paid competitively. Once an offer is made and you are going through the details, do not "nickel and dime" the company. Write down your areas of concern and approach them with a complete list. Nothing is more irritating than having issues continually popping up; especially after you thought the deal was closed.
